Common Problems

Picking out a board game from a picture is a somewhat complex task, and there are a few ways it can fail. The most common failure is caused by glare. If there is glare on the pieces, the program can have trouble picking them out. In the app, this failure might look like this:

Another common failure happens when the image is taken from too shallow of an angle. When this happens, the app can't tell where the gaps between the pieces are. This failure might look like this:

Sometimes, the app will notice that it is having trouble finding the board and tell you. That would look like this:

Finally, the app has trouble at the very beginning of the game. Sometimes it can't "lock on" to the board before all four corners are taken. If this happens, you might need to make the first move for the app. This failure might look like this:

If the app is having trouble in one of these ways, it probably isn't a bug - we just can't work with the picture. Try taking another picture from a different angle.
